Barça Set to Play Inaugural Match at Renovated Camp Nou on Saturday
The club confirmed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host the Basque side in domestic competition over two years following their departure to allow renovations to start.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available though over 45,000 attendees can be present based on approved permits. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced finished work included a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized a fan-accessible workout at the Camp Nou in early November. Officials stated approval is being pursued by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side on 9 December in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
