Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
