Reigning Sabalenka Claims Back-to-Back WTA Top Player Honors.

Aryna Sabalenka celebrating a point
Aryna Sabalenka concluded the year with an impressive 23-3 Grand Slam match record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second straight season.

The 27-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth career Grand Slam singles championship.

A Season of Consistency

Across the season, Sabalenka played in a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The Belarusian also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the entire year as the world number one, finishing 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka ended the season with a 63-12 match record, and picked up a historic eleven million pounds in prize money.

She earned nearly 80% of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".

Additional WTA Award Winners

  • Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking 13-month break after the arrival of her first child and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
  • Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after beginning the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and climbing to world number 18.
  • Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after winning their second career Grand Slam title as a pair.
  • Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after making five championship matches.

Recently, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
